Stay well and safe in these difficult days.

The Coronavirus pandemic has forced the closure of all but the most essential shops and retail outlets. Cinemas, theatres and art galleries are also closed. The Solomon Gallery, Dublin, has just opened it’s regular Spring exhibition on line, showing over 50 works from both gallery and invited artists. Two of my screenprints, “Sunlight and Shadow” and “In the Woods”  are part of the exhibition ,which runs until 25th April 2020

50 years ago today, on the 17th February 1969, while still a student in the National College of Art and Design, I signed a lease on a garden flat in Herbert Place, along the canal, in Dublin 2. I knew that I wanted to make my living as a painter and to do that I needed a studio. The lease was for 2 years and 9 months and the rent was around £30 a month; I stayed there for 17 very happy years, before moving on to a place of my own.Bernadette-Web

I am now back from a few weeks in Indonesia, which is considered to be the home of Batik and where some of the best traditional Batik in the world is made. The makers there produce extraordinary and beautiful fabric, using the most basic of equipment.

WISHING EVERYONE A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS !                 As you can see I  have finally moved in to my new home and studio, and am getting ready for a productive 2019………
